Challenge

A leading public safety technology company needed experienced data engineering resources to support public safety agencies migrating from legacy systems to its modern platform. Each agency brought unique databases, schemas, data structures, and legacy environments, requiring detailed discovery and assessment before critical public safety data could be converted successfully.

Our client needed engineers who could manage the full data conversion lifecycle, from data profiling and mapping through transformation, ingestion, validation, and cutover, while working directly with agency technical teams and internal Product, Sales, and Engineering stakeholders. Given the sensitive nature of public safety information, the resources also needed to meet CJIS background requirements and handle confidential data appropriately.

Solution

ClearBridge provided two experienced Data Conversion Engineers to support client data discovery, legacy system assessments, and end-to-end data conversion engagements.

Our engineers leveraged strong SQL, Python, cloud, and database expertise to analyze legacy schemas, profile data, develop mapping and transformation logic, and create conversion scripts. They supported data ingestion, validation, quality assurance, and cutover activities while working across SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and structured data formats including JSON, XML, and YAML.

As client-facing technical resources, our engineers collaborated closely with public safety agency teams and the client’s internal stakeholders to identify conversion requirements, troubleshoot data issues, validate results, and help ensure data migrated accurately to the new platform.

Impact

By providing specialized data conversion expertise, ClearBridge expanded our client’s capacity to execute complex public safety system migrations while maintaining a high level of data quality and technical consistency.

The engagement streamlined legacy data discovery and conversion, strengthened validation and QA throughout the migration lifecycle, and provided agencies with knowledgeable technical support from initial assessment through cutover. With additional engineering capacity and expertise, our client was better positioned to scale platform migrations while reducing the risks associated with moving critical public safety data between systems.
