For years, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) has been where organizations run their virtualized workloads. Now it’s becoming where they’ll run AI too, on infrastructure they already own, manage, and trust.
What’s new
Broadcom has introduced VMware Private AI Cloud and VMware AI Factory. Together, they automate the whole path from bare-metal servers to a running AI model:
- GPU pools your teams and workloads can share
- Networking and storage set up for AI workloads
- A model runtime built on vLLM for serving the models you choose
- Tokenomics, which shows AI usage and cost down to the individual token
Until now, building private AI meant putting these pieces together by hand. Now it’s an automated path on the platform you already run.
VCF 9.1 is generally available
VCF 9.1 adds three improvements that matter to IT teams and budgets:
- NVMe memory tiering can double a host’s usable memory without adding DRAM, helping reduce hardware costs.
- Support for more than 150 OpenAI models gives you more choice in the AI you run.
- A redesigned VCF Operations makes day-to-day management simpler.
What this means for you
You can bring AI into your organization without sending sensitive data to a public service or building a separate AI platform from scratch. Your AI runs next to your existing workloads, under the same security, governance, and operations you use today.
