Workplace Project Manager – Power & Data Infrastructure

Our client, a large professional services firm located in New York, NY is looking to hire a Workplace Project Manager – Power & Data Infrastructure for a 12-month onsite contract.  The client is seeking an experienced Workplace Project Manager with subject matter expertise in power and data infrastructure to join the team as a full-time resident. This role will focus on managing workplace infrastructure projects primarily in New York City, ensuring the successful integration of power and data systems to meet the strategic and operational needs of our enterprise environments.  
 
The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of workplace infrastructure projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and cross-functional teams.  The consultant will be tasked with providing subject matter expertise for projects in power and data infrastructure, including cabling, connectivity, and power distribution systems as well as to oversee the physical installation of hardware and infrastructure connectivity across data centers and corporate office spaces.  

The consultant will utilize Data Center Information Management (DCIM) tools to manage and track infrastructure assets as well as coordinate with MEP consultants and building systems vendors on the integration of Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting controls, security systems integration, and sound masking solutions within workplace environments.   

Required Skills:
 

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure technology, with a focus on workplace and data center power/data systems.  
  • Proven expertise in managing projects for rack integration of servers, storage equipment, network switches, and other appliances.  
  • Strong understanding of data center connectivity, including cabling, optics, and carrier services.
  • Familiarity with rack PDU monitoring, management, and critical thresholds.  
  • Experience with Data Center Information Management (DCIM) tools and processes. 
  • Thorough understanding of hot and cold aisle dynamics and IT equipment airflow requirements. 
  • Basic knowledge of OSI layers 1, 2, and 3 and network-layer provisioning/troubleshooting.  
  • Ability to translate workplace infrastructure requirements into effective, detail-oriented solutions. 
  • Experience managing projects across multiple locations, leveraging remote site resources while maintaining accountability for outcomes.   
  • Familiarity with MEP/BMS systems integration; knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting controls, security systems integration, and sound masking solutions is beneficial.   
  • Basic knowledge of security and AV/CATV systems as they relate to workplace environments.   
  • Experience with the construction documentation process from design to delivery, including reviewing and commenting on drawings packages.

The expected hourly rate range for this role is:  $61-$97.50 per hour
