Our client, a leading government technology service provider is in need of a Mainframe Systems Programmer on a 6 month contract to hire. The Mainframe Systems Programmer will work remotely, and will be responsible for planning, installing, configuring, customizing, and maintaining the IBM z/OS operating system and associated features (e.g., TSO/E, ISPF/PDF, JES2, SDSF) in a multi-LPAR, multi-site environment. Responsibilities include managing, maintaining, and upgrading IBM program products and ISV software, as well as providing after-hours on-call support for issue resolution and configuration changes.
Required Skills:
- 9+ years of programming experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science, or Information Systems from an accredited institution, or 2+ years of applied experience without a degree
- Strong internal knowledge of IBM z/OS 2.2 or later
- Proficiency in IBM z/OS installation tools, including SMP/E, z/OSMF, PDO, and more
- Hands-on experience with UNIX System Services in a z/OS environment
- Familiarity with hardware configuration tools such as HCD and IODF
- US Citizen and ability to obtain a Public Trust
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with z/OS Security product CA Topsecret
- Knowledge of other IBM products such as CICS and DB2
