Sr NetApp Engineer

Our client, located in RTP, NC, is currently in need of a Sr NetApp Engineer for a 12 month contract.  The consultant will work primarily remote with onsite as needed in support of NetApp storage customer’s 24×7 hosted environments. There are 3 openings and 2 shifts, 1 opening supporting Mon-Fri 10 AM – 7 PM and 2 openings supporting Fri-Sun 7 AM to 7 PM. Candidates must work on US Soil while remote.

  The consultant will provide support to our customers by responding to Incidents, working on service requests, problem management and storage infrastructure improvements. Experience in supporting a varied clientele is essential as is a strong understanding of NetApp storage-based technologies.

Required Skills:

  • 8-10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s or any master’s degree or equivalent combination of professional education/training and applicable work experience.
  • Experienced in NetApp storage technology.
    • Deploying and administering NetApp storage primarily ONTAP, troubleshooting performance issues, performing firmware and OS upgrades, using storage management and monitoring tools, managing storage/backup integration with NetApp Data Infrastructure.
    • Strong SnapCenter experience
  • Proficient understanding of NetApp storage concepts, related management tools (AIQ, AIQUM) and related storage technologies including monitoring and troubleshooting, administration, replication technologies, security hardening and performance tuning.
  • Experience or knowledge in other NetApp technologies like CVO, StorageGRID, E-Series, BlueXP, Data Infrastructure Insights (DII), Workload Security, and SnapCenter.
  • Strong understanding of storage protocols and technologies (CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, NVMe, Fiber Channel switching and networks).
  • Working knowledge of monitoring platforms, WANs, SANs, backup and disaster recovery platforms.
  • Strong customer communication and documentation skills.
  • Built and maintained strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Infrastructure design, build, deployment and disaster recovery testing.
  • Positive, proactive, team-orientated attitude with a flexible and innovative approach to work.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with any automation tools.
  • Knowledge in ITIL methodologies: change, incident, problem and configuration management and certification
  • Understanding of managed services delivery and cloud certifications.
  • Windows server, Linux server and related Operating Systems technologies including monitoring and troubleshooting, administration, replication technologies, security hardening and performance.
  • Understanding of managed services delivery and any of the cloud certifications (AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure).
  • Associate level cloud certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, Google Associate Cloud Engineer, Azure Administrator.
  • NetApp Cloud-based Certifications like NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA), or Hybrid Cloud Administrator (NCHCA).
  • Working knowledge on containers & microservices concepts. Experience in tools and technologies like OpenShift, Kubernetes and Ansible
