TS/SCI cleared Database Engineer

Our client, a large government systems integrator located at Camp Smith, HI, is looking to hire a Top Secret SCI cleared Database Engineer for a 12-month contract. Working onsite, the consultant will be tasked with designing and defining architecture for future-state IT capabilities and services. The engineer will also be responsible for the installation and maintenance of database servers, optimizing database security, installing, and upgrading database applications, and troubleshooting database errors. Other database responsibilities include creating and managing reports, creating automation for repeating tasks, and troubleshooting clusters/farms on servers.

Additionally, the consultant will be developing and supporting customer applications that are unique to the mission objectives, administering business services, and tools such as account creation, access control settings, and password resets. They will also be documenting architectural requirements to meet enterprise needs and desired end state for each milestone. Other responsibilities include applying and maintaining STIGs in the enterprise, identifying and resolving workflow issues as well as developing testing strategies to verify requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (may substitute additional years of experience)
  • 8+ years of relevant experience of which at least 3 of years of that directly related to SQL Server administration.
  • Must hold a current US Secret clearance and be eligible to possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  • Must have current DoD 8570 compliance with IAT level II access upon hire.
  • Experience with Windows Servers Operating Systems.
  • Experience with all or some SQL Server versions 2014/2016/2017/2019.
  • Additional specific certifications may be required.
  • Experience in database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high availability     strategies for SQL Server 2017 or higher.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues.
  • Experience with implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
  • Experience with SQL Server backup and recovery strategies.
  • Experience in upgrading major database instances.
  • Independently able to employ multiple database backup strategies.
  • Ability to work closely with system admins and ISSO on application upgrades, documentation, and STIG remediation.
  • May be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required.

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with AlwaysOn, High availability, and failover clustering highly desired.
  • Experience authoring and maintaining PowerShell scripts highly desired.
  • A demonstrated strong working knowledge of Microsoft and Virtual infrastructure technologies.
  • SQL Server or other database certifications.
  • Understanding of Agile, ITIL, DevOps practices.
